The Bridport & District Gardening Club has a rich heritage, having been established as early as the 1850s. Today, the club has a thriving membership of more than 600 individuals residing in Bridport and the surrounding district. Membership is only £10 per household.
The club hosts 9 monthly meetings each year. Each meeting features a guest speaker, providing members with the opportunity to be entertained and inspired. The club organises 7-8 outings once a month during the spring and summer months, allowing members to explore gardens and horticultural sites of interest. There are 2 Shows (spring and Harvest) that provide an opportunity for members to showcase their garden produce; home baking & preserves; arts & handicrafts and photography.
We also initiate and get involved with community projects such as maintaining the town planters and bulb planting. Join us to keep Bridport blooming!
Each December, the club hosts a Christmas lunch, offering members the chance to come together for an end-of-year social occasion. The event is further enlivened by a splendid raffle, adding to the festive spirit.
The club maintains strong connections within the horticultural community. It is affiliated with the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), the Gardens Group’s Gold Club, Dorset and Somerset Federations of Horticultural Societies, and the Daffodil Society. The club is also fortunate to have the support of sponsors Clive and Diana Groves.
For those wishing to get in touch with club officers, contact information is available in the club’s Newsletter or email bridportgardeningclub@gmail.com.
